The crash happened in the northbound lanes at mile marker 247.1 just before Exit 247A, the VDOT website said.

The north left shoulder and left lane are closed. Traffic backups were approximately 3.5 miles as of 2:45 p.m.

Another crash on the southbound side of the highway at mile marker 277.2 also had traffic piled up for three miles in Shenandoah.
